SHINE 2014

We're all quite exhausted after the season's first speech and debate tournament, but I thought I'd grab the computer before my siblings and put up some of the photos I took this week.

This adorable child.  She had Region 10 worshiping at her feet.

Um... it's a cupcake made out of PlayDo.

The heavy fog made everything look really eerie.

What happens when you leave a bunch of teenagers alone with a whiteboard.

The gorgeous sunset over the Thames River

The only picture of myself I got all week :)

So proud of my club!  Four people broke to Humorous semifinals.  Abby won second place in that category at her first tournament ever!  Two new competitors broke to semis in Illustrated Oratory.  At least two people broke in Apologetics and one in Impromptu.  Two duo teams made it to semifinals.  One broke in After Dinner Speaking, and one TP team broke to quarterfinals!  We all were so excited.

I didn't break in anything, but I made huge improvements over last year.  I did two speeches each at three tournaments.  That's three judges per speech for a total of 54 ballots for the entire season.  Of all those I got only two rankings above fifth place.  Now this year I did five different speech categories.  I didn't make it to semifinals but I got to see a lot more rankings.  Especially in Impromptu and Persuasive, even judges who didn't rank me thanked me for my speaking.

... I never know how to close, except to say that I really love NCFCA.
